#ReadwithMeChallenge-Beating Florida's Education System

Hey everyone, praying all is well!

We are about to enter the 2023-2024 school year, and so many changes have occurred in Florida's education system, but I firmly believe you still have control over your house. Just because the school system is not doing it does not mean YOU can't do it! Yes, it might be challenging, and you must make some sacrifices, but that is what parenting is about. As a parent, you make sacrifices for your children to participate in extracurricular activities that help the school earn money, so why not take 30 minutes daily and ensure your children are reading? We will no longer accept excuses. Be the change you want to see. It starts with YOU! We can work on Bo$$ing up mentally, physically, emotionally, and financially all we want, but we still must be parents and raise our children.

Start holding yourself accountable:

How many books do you have for your children and yourself in your household?

How many times have your children witnessed you reading a book?

How many times have your children witnessed you scrolling social media?

In no shape or form am I picking on you, but it is time to do better!

The Dollar Tree, Burlington Coat Factory, and Five & Below all have affordable books, to name a few!

Also, let us not forget about the libraries our tax dollars are funding; why not go there twice a month and take out some books if you are on a budget?

I know many will sit here and say something about their financiers and they don't have the money to purchase books, well you know, I say let's print out your bank statement for the last three months, and I am sure we will find the money. The more excuses you make for your lack of parenting, the more excuses your children will make once they become adults.

If your child is still young, read to them and help them use their imagination. If your child is older and able to read by themselves, read with them, you grab your book, and they hold theirs. Put all technology devices in a basket and read!

This will be life-changing for you and your child. If yall can do Tik Toks together, you can read together!
